A lot of the hype before the game was centered on the Philadelphia debut of Victor Wembanyama, but it was Joel Embiid becoming the seventh player and the first Philadelphia 76ers player to score 70 points in a game as Philadelphia rolled past the San Antonio Spurs 133-123 at Wells Fargo Center.

Something special was in the air early as Embiid scored 24 points in the opening period. Embiid was unstoppable as he shot 24-41 from the floor and played a total floor game be grabbing 18 rebounds and dishing out five assists. The reigning MVP broke the franchise record set my Wit Chamberlain’s 68 points.

Wembanyama did not disappoint either as he had 33 points to pace the Spurs.

It was Embiid’s 21st straight 30-point game.
