The New England Patriots swiftly replaced legendary Bill Belichick as they hired former linebacker and current assistant coach Jerod as the new coach.

The process went quick as Mayo reportedly had a clause of the coach in waiting upon Belichick leaving his post.

At 37, Mayo is the youngest head coach in the NFL. The former first-round pick out of Tennessee, Mayo played eight-years in the league where he was the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2008, a two-time Pro Bowler and one-time first team All-Pro. Mayo was part of two Super Bowl winning teams with the Patriots and has been a linebackers coach for five-years.
